Lipscomb volleyball defeated Belmont 3-2 Tuesday night in Allen Arena during volleyball’s Battle of the Boulevard.

Belmont took Lipscomb through a five-set match for the second time this season.

Tuesday’s victory gave the Bison volleyball team a 13-12 all-time series advantage over Belmont.

“It’s a great feeling knowing that we are going to go down in history as the first team to lead the all-time series record over Belmont,” senior outside hitter Brittnay Estes said.

Estes has been a leader for the Bisons throughout the season. She has led the team in kills for almost every match and led the team Tuesday with 19 kills.

“My goal was to just to be an energizer and a team leader,” Estes said. “I knew that was going to be the way I could help our team win.”

Although the Bisons emerged victorious, the Bruins fought back and kept the out-of-conference rivalry alive.

“This has been a great rivalry for our program,” head coach Brandon Rosenthal said. “I’m glad that we are able to keep the rivalry alive even while being in different conferences.”

Lipscomb begins the second half of its conference schedule by playing NJIT Saturday, Oct. 24 at 12 p.m in Allen Arena.
