As the weather begins to change, you will start to see these new and exciting trends appear all over Lipscomb’s fashion-forward campus. Take my advice and don’t get caught wearing last season’s picks.

  1. Freshman Jowaune McKenzie adds a splash of leopard print to her ensemble and accessorizes with layered rings.

Lacy Layers: Add a piece of lace into your everyday outfit. You can dress it up or down. Make sure it doesn’t show too much. Make it your own and keep it classy.

  2. Leopard Splash: Throw a bit of leopard print into your ensemble. Think shoes, bags, belts, or a simple scarf, but don’t overdo it.
  3. Neon Pop: Now get ready for the brightest of brights: neon! If you are not ready to go all the way with this trend, buy a neon belt and pair it with a gray dress.  If you are really ready for the trend, take that belt and put it with the dress, then put a neon-hued cardigan over the top.
  4. Chunky Knits: Made to look hand-knitted, they have a variety of shapes and necklines, offering warmth and a snuggly sensuality. They are perfect for a cool autumn day, worn with a pair of your favorite skinny jeans or leggings.
  5. Color Blocking: After seasons of frills and flowers, color blocking is a strong pattern for the fall. This trend will work for all fashionistas and can be seen in different looks.
  6. Mixing Prints: This can be a tricky concept to grasp, but that’s part of the fun. When quirky patterns click, the result is an artful collage that warrants a second glance. Find pieces linked by a common color scheme or mood. It’s the best when they come together in varied proportions and even different textures!
  7. Layering Rings: Right now everyone is loving the look of hippy, 1970s inspired mood rings and cabochons. Rather than punky skulls and knuckle-busters or the overly blingy and sparkly cocktail rings, try unique stones like turquoise, amber, and aquamarine.

8.  Attention! Military Moment: The color of choice is military  green, but navy and dark browns also rock this look. Think jackets, shrunken with a slimmer cut or the complete opposite, over-sized and slightly baggy. Beware of actual camouflage prints which look cheap and dingy.

9.  Denim this, Denim that: Whether you are rocking a pair of skinny jeans, a jacket, or a simple button down, it is in this season. Double up and go all out. Dress it up and go downtown or wear it to class.

10. Menswear Watches: Whatever your style may entitle, everyone is qualified to rock these right now. Girls, add it to your everyday outfit for a cool contrast.
