MACON, Ga. – Lipscomb’s freshman runner, Alex Newby earned her first Atlantic Sun Runner of the Week award, as announced by the league office on Wednesday, after she set a personal record of 18:56.27 at the Vermont Invitational 5K. Newby paced Lipscomb to a second-place finish at the meet by crossing the finish line in eighth, only four seconds behind the meet winner.

• A-Sun Runner of the Week award
• Ran a personal record at the Vermont Invitational 5K with a time of 18:56.27
• Took eighth place in the race; finishing only four seconds behind the individual champion
• Led Lipscomb to second place ahead of Vermont, the 15th-ranked team in the Northeast Region
• Crossed the finish line in eighth place overall
