As you may have noticed, Lumination Network was down from late Monday evening into Late Tuesday. While we apologize for the outage, we have became aware that the fault did not lie with our staff. After many hours of scrambling, our IT team discovered the problem:
The issue was that the address record (A record), a type of Domain Name System (DNS) record which lists our site’s IP address and domain name and connects the domain “luminationnetwork.com” to the server with all of the site information, was deleted yesterday. This caused our site to be inaccessible.
As your main outlet for student news, Lumination Network strives to be accurate, timely and engaging. We assure that all the proper steps are being taken in order for this to not happen again. However, in the event that it does happen again, our staff is prepared to handle it.
We appreciate your loyalty to our news network and your understanding during the past 24 hours.
Sincerely,
Kate Keith, Editor-in-Chief
