Videos: Running of the Bison and the Battle of the Boulevard

Every year, the night before the rivalry basketball game between Lipscomb and Belmont, students rally together to show school spirit. Students give speeches, and a deejay helps get all of the students excited about the game the following night. At the end of the festivities, the students all get behind a truck and run one mile around the surrounding neighborhood, showing the pride and excitement of Lipscomb students. Ariel Jones has the story.   Lipscomb and Belmont have always had a strong rivalry, and 131 battles later, the rivalry is still going strong. This year’s game was hard for Lipscomb students to watch as, within minutes, the Bisons were trailing behind the Bruins. Though the players might have gotten discouraged, the fans in the stands were more than uplifting. Bison fans cheered for points and booed for bad calls made by the referees. The Bisons fell to the Bruins 89-60. Sydney Poe has more on the story, as well as highlights of the game....

‘Team Belmont’ wins 8th annual dodgeball tournament

The eighth annual All-American Dodgeball tournament was held on Friday, Nov. 2 in the courtyard of Fanning. Similar to years past, this event brought out many Lipscomb students. To begin the tournament, all dodgeball team captains were called to center court to sign the Declaration of Dodgeball. After that, the games began. Some of the crowd favorites for this year were Pokemon, the Toy Soldiers and the Lumberjacks. Possibly the shortest match of the tournament was between the Pregnant Nuns and the Dominoes. Team Belmont, a team that has fought for the title before, came out victoriously this year taking the towering six and a half foot trophy.  ...
Third annual Paint the Herd draws large crowd

Third annual Paint the Herd draws large crowd

As we near the end of October, Halloween isn’t the only thing on the mind of Lipscomb students. Paint the Herd was Friday night and, as predicted by many, was a major success. The Student Government Association sponsors Paint the Herd each year in the lower level of the Allen Arena West parking garage on the last Friday of October. This was the third year that SGA has sponsored the event. Paint the Herd allows students to spend several hours together as a community partying, singing and throwing paint at one another. One of Lipscomb’s own students served as deejay of the event, and the crowd’s approval of his skills was overwhelming. And, unlike in years past, SGA brought out the paint early, nearly as soon as a majority of the partygoers were in the basement of the parking garage. For a $5 cover charge, students were able to be involved in one of the biggest events of the fall semester. Here are some of the highlights.   Please upgrade your browser Photo Gallery Credit: Whitney...
