MACON, Ga. – Lipscomb’s Mollie Mitchell recorded her second Atlantic Sun Softball Player of the Week award after a spectacular week at the plate for the Lady Bisons, batting .538 (7-12) with two home runs and three RBIs in three of four games, while fellow teammate Whitney Kiihnl tallied a perfect 3-0 record on the week, including a no-hitter and winning both games of a doubleheader at Campbell to clinch the Lady Bisons the regular season title.
Mitchell has caught every game for the Lady Bisons this season while maintaining a top 10 batting average in the conference. The sophomore catcher posted two homeruns in Tuesday’s 7-5 loss to Alabama-Birmingham. The Suwanee, Ga. native also tallied multiple hits in three of the four games as the Lady Bisons went 3-1, including a 2-0 sweep of Campbell Saturday to clinch the A-Sun regular season championship.
Kiihnl won 1-0 against Alabama-Birmingham Tuesday and then beat Campbell 4-1 as a starter and combined with Christen Campbell in game two for a 2-0 win against Campbell Saturday. In the 4-1 victory, the Batesville, Miss. native drove in two runs with her first triple of the season. Kiihnl boasts 11 shutouts on her own and has combined for eight more. The Lady Bisons’ 40 wins rank as an NCAA era program record.

Morgan Childers, USC Upstate (Jr. – P – Kings Mountain, N.C. – Secondary Education) – Childers appeared in four games played by USC Upstate last week as the Spartans tallied a 4-0 record. The Kings Mountain, N.C. native picked up a win and a save in the sweep of Winthrop. Childers tossed seven innings and allowed just one hit while striking out eight in the 1-0 shutout of the Eagles and tossed three innings of relief in game two to earn the save in the 3-1 victory. In a key A-Sun series against A-Sun foe ETSU, the junior pitcher tossed a one-hitter while striking out nine to lead USC Upstate to a 3-0 victory and started the second game and went four innings with five strikeouts in the no decision.
Monica Hall, USC Upstate (Sr. – DP – Ceres, Calif. – Interdisciplinary Studies) – Hall led USC Upstate at the plate and to a 4-0 record last week with sweeps of Winthrop in non-conference play and ETSU in a key A-Sun doubleheader. The Ceres, Calif. native hit .500 for the week with six hits, five RBIs and a .667 slugging percentage. Hall drove in two runs in the 3-0 shutout of ETSU in game one and drove in the game-winning run in the come from behind 4-2 victory versus the Lady Bucs in game two. The senior also tallied four hits with three RBIs in the sweep of Winthrop as she drove in the game-winner in the 1-0 shutout of the Eagles in game one and drove in a pair of runs, including the game-winner, in the 3-1 victory in game two. For the week, Hall drove in the winning runs in three of the four victories.
Amanda Lindsey, Stetson (Sr. – P – Byhalia, Miss. – Biology) – Lindsey earned three wins in Stetson’s 4-0 weekend against Mercer and Kennesaw State, striking out 25 batters in 19 innings and pitching to a 1.47 ERA. The senior pitcher tossed five innings in the opener against the Bears for the win, then got the decision in both halves of the Lady Owls twinbill. Lindsey struck out 10 in an eight-inning complete game in the opener and struck out five in three perfect relief innings in the nightcap.
Amanda Miller, Campbell (Jr. – SS – Dunn, N.C. – Elementary Education) – Miller led Campbell in hits with four and runs with three, including tallying hits in three of the four games. The Dunn, N.C. native hit her first two home runs of the season and led the Lady Camels with two home runs and three RBIs. Miller also totaled a team high 11 total bases, a .917 slugging percentage, 11 assists, four putouts and a perfect fielding percentage.
Katelyn Perna, Stetson (Jr. – 3B/1B – St. Petersburg, Fla. – Accounting) – Perna led Stetson in batting average (.455) and on-base percentage (.500) as the Hatters swept home doubleheaders from the Mercer and Kennesaw State to clinch a spot in the A-Sun tournament. The accounting major’s two-run single in the bottom of the sixth in Thursday’s nightcap versus Mercer jump started a rally and led to a 5-4 Hatter victory. In the second game of Saturday’s twin-billing with the Lady Owls, Perna went three for five with a double in a 2-1 10-inning Hatter win. It tallied the St. Petersburg, Fla. native’s first career three-hit game.
Brittany Stanley, Campbell (Sr. – P – West Lafayette, Ind. – Business Administration) – Stanley threw her third shutout of the season and 22nd of her career in Campbell’s win against Belmont. The senior pitcher produced a 1.17 ERA on the week in 12 innings, surrendering only six hits with two walks and nine strikeouts.
