Kelly named A-Sun Player of the Week

MACON, Ga. – For the second time this season and eighth in her career, Lipscomb’s Alex Kelly earned the Atlantic Sun Volleyball Player of the Week award, announced Monday by the league office. Kelly won MVP honors of the Gamecock Invitational by leading the Bisons past South Carolina, Furman and South Carolina State. She finished the week with 56 kills, nine assists, 12 blocks, 33 digs and a .427 hitting percentage. The Lady Bisons claimed four wins on the week, all in straight sets, which extended Lipscomb’s winning streak to six games. Volleyball posts 2-1 record at Pitt Invitational

The Lady Bisons swept both Tulane and Pittsburgh this weekend at the Pitt Invitational. Their only loss was on Saturday morning when they were swept by Purdue. Kacey Greene and Alex Kelly were named to the All Tournament team for their weekend performance. From LipscombSports.com : Lipscomb Lady Bisons split matches in Pitt Invitational Lipscomb outside hitter Kaycee Green is on the top of her game this weekend and has made an impact on the Lady Bisons. In Friday afternoon’s 3-0 win against Tulane Green led the way with a match-high 12 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. “Kaycee has been willing to work hard offensively and defensively,” Lady Bisons coach Brandon Rosenthal said. “When she is willing to work hard offensively and defensively she can be one of the top players in the conference. “When things slow down for her, and she doesn’t work as hard, she becomes an average player. We have been working hard since last year to get her to understand that.” Green was a member of the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team last season. “The game becomes very easy to her in some regards,” Rosenthal said. “At this level you have to work every day and for every point. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. Stefine “Jake” Pease Voted Preseason Player of the Year Lipscomb Draws Top Preseason Honors All-Conference Photo Gallery Pease Highlights MACON, Ga. – Lipscomb, the defending Atlantic Sun Conference champions, will enter the fall as the overwhelming favorite to win its third conference crown in the past four seasons, the conference office announced on Thursday. The Lady Bisons received ten first-place votes from the league coaches in the preseason poll, while senior setter Stefine “Jake” Pease earned Preseason Player of the Year honors. Buoyed a perfect 20-0 conference record, Lipscomb cruised to a 28-4 mark and claimed the conference tournament title by defeating host school FGCU in the final. Pease ranked tenth in the country after averaging nearly 12 assists as a junior last season. She added 284 digs and 104 kills on her way to Tournament MVP and First Team All-Atlantic Sun honors. A pair of Pease’s Lipscomb teammates, Meghan Hinemeyer and Alex Kelly, joins the setter on the preseason squad. Hinemeyer, a senior outside hitter, totaled 353 kills, 257 digs and 27 service aces last season, while Kelly, last season’s Player of the Year and unanimous selection to the preseason team, led the conference in kills per set and points per set.
