Lady Bison Soccer Top the Stetson Hatters in Defensive Win 2-0

The Lady Bison secured another conference win as they beat the Stetson Hatters 2-0 at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex. The game started off in favor of Lipscomb as there won three straight corner kicks the Lady Bison. This would be a good indicator of how the first half would go as the Lady Bison outshot the Hatters eight to two. Both teams would have glimpsed in front of the goal before the end of the first half. The second half was no different. The Lady Bison would have an array of chances offensively, putting up nine shots to the Hatters five. Then in the 69th minute, Lipscomb finally broke through and scored on a great solo run from Macy Douglas that was set up by a pass from Molly Grant. Douglas, who is a freshman, has really come into her own in the past couple of games as she scored her third goal of the season. Grant, who is fourth on the team in terms of assists, got her third assist of the season. After the first goal of the game, Stetson didn’t back down as they had a number of changes in the Lipscomb half. The Hatters had a couple of shots that yielded some opportunities for a goal, but nothing would come of them. Then, they had a corner kick that was deflected and then cleared away. This set up a scoring chance from Lipscomb that would ultimately be saved by Stetson goalie Lara Bates. However, after a bad clearance from the Hatters, Lipscomb capitalized on a cross in the 86th minute from Hailey Eck to Maycie McKay to...

Goalkeeping helps men’s soccer team secure tie with Evansville

Lipscomb University’s Men’s Soccer team played its second home game of the season against the Evansville Aces Tuesday night at the soccer complex. The game was really a tale of two halves, with it being relatively close up until halfway into the 22 minute. Lipscomb held possession on the Aces side of the field, peppering off four shots in a row. Then after a couple more missed chances from both sides, momentum shifted in favor of the Bisons. A fast break opened up for the Bisons with Hayes Wood and Noah Gulden taking advantage.  A great cross into the box from Gulden helped Lipscomb score a goal in the 37 minute making it 1-0 Bison. Hayes Wood put himself in prime scoring position, and all Gulden had to do was feed him the ball. The Aces would only have another shot in the first half coming from Francesco Brunetti as the Bisons would hold onto their lead. The second half began fairly well for the Bisons. They would have an early possession on the Aces side of the field and would get off a few shots while having two corner kicks. However, nothing would come of it. Lipscomb’s backline held up for quite some time in the second half. However, momentum shifted after a couple of errors from Lipscomb on the fast break. Goalkeeper Michael Sibley would keep the Bisons in the game with his incredible performance up until the 82 minute. The Aces marched their way down into Bison territory and fired off a quick shot with numbers in their favor. Sibley actually made a pretty good save on the shot,...

Lipscomb Softball recovers from slow start to dominate Tennessee Tech

The Lady Bisons secured an 8-3 victory over the Tennessee Tech Eagles in their first meet of the season. The in-state, non-conference matchup tonight was played at Lipscomb’s Draper Diamond in Nashville, Tennessee. It was a tale of two pitchers with Lipscomb getting the better end of it..   Lipscomb pitcher Megan Gray started off the game with three strikeouts in-a-row to cap off a very impressive first inning. Then after an uneventful bottom of the first inning, Tennessee Tech took an early lead after Gray gave up a two-run homer to left center. This would pretty much be Gray’s only mishap of the evening as she stayed on the mound for all seven innings. She went on to strikeout an impressive seven batters while only allowing three runs in the process to finish off a stellar performance. As for Tennessee Tech’s pitching, it was almost the opposite. Tech struggled the most in the third inning with three runs allowed. Pitcher Alyssa Arden only lasted four innings before getting pulled, giving up six runs. The Eagles finished off the evening with Kayla Hughes on the mound, who only gave up two runs in two innings.   Luckily for the Lady Bisons, it wasn’t long after a home run that they woke up in the third inning. After a strikeout to start the bottom of the second inning, Jenna Pealor hit a nice double to left centerfield to place herself in prime scoring position. Later, after an error on a beautiful line drive from Destinee Brewer, Gladden and Pealor would both score, tying the game up at two to end the...
