Remember that talented duo that performed in Shamblin a couple months back, sponsored by our SGA? Well, that same duo will be on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno this Thursday night along with Cameron Diaz and Eric Stonestreet. The Civil Wars, featuring Joy Williams and John Paul White, will be playing the title track from their forthcoming album “Barton Hollow.” Their album is set to drop on the first of next month. The Tonight Show booking comes after the duo played in Europe for the first time, and playing a string of sold out shows up and down the West Coast. The album release concert will be held at The Belcourt Theater here in Nashville on February 2nd. For your sake, we hope you ordered tickets early because it, too, is already sold out. Lumination, with the help of SGA, was able to sit down with Joy and John Paul when they played their show here. To see part of the interview, check out the video below. For years now, AT&T has been the sole service provider for Apple’s coveted PDA, the iPhone. As of 11:06 a.m. EST today, that is no longer the case. In a press conference this morning, Lowell McAdam, Verizon’s President and COO, made an announcement that in February 2011, the iPhone 4 will be available for Verizon customers. “Today we’re partnering with a giant of the industry, and that’s Apple,” McAdam said. “Late in 2010 we started offering the iPad… today we are extremely grateful to announce that the iPhone 4 will be available early next month.” Tim Cook, Apple’s COO, also commented on the new partnership at the press conference. “I am incredibly happy, and I can tell you all [that] Apple is very very excited to bring the iPhone to Verizon’s customers,” Cook said. Apple representative Dan Dee explained how ready Verizon is to launch the iPhone on their network. “We’ve built our business on building the very best network, and now our customers have a choice for the iPhone 4 on the nation’s most reliable network,” Dee said. “We have advanced the capacity [of our network] and built margin into it. We’re ready for this launch.” Dee also announced exactly when customers will be able to order their iPhones. “On Feb. 3 our existing customers will have an opportunity to pre-order, and on Feb. 10, everyone will be able to order online, in stores or in Apple stores,” Dee said. With the recent release of the new and improved iPhone 4, which includes features like FaceTime, HD video and a five-megapixel camera (on the front and back of the...

While every elementary, middle and high school in the Nashville area has closed for today (and probably will tomorrow as well), Lipscomb University does not surrender to the white blanket covering the entire southeaster United States. Classes are still scheduled for the entire university, but keep an eye on your email for professors who might cancel individual classes. Because of this wintry weather we’re getting, the basketball game between the Bisons and the Ospreys of the University of North Florida have been moved up to noon today for the men’s game and 2:15 pm for the women’s game. There will be a free BBQ lunch for students and admission to the game is free to everyone. So, whether your classes are cancelled or you’re trekking through the snow to reach that academic building, stop by Allen Arena this afternoon for some Bison basketball, free food and a promised good time. Send us your photos of our campus covered in powdery snow and we’ll post them on Lumination with a credit to you, the photographer! Please upgrade your...
