4. The Battle Returns
After a seven season hiatus, the Bisons and Belmont Bruins renewed their Battle of the Boulevard rivalry on the hardwood. While both schools transitioned from the NAIA to NCAA Division I, the rivalry was put on hold. However, in 2004 the match up made its return in front of a 4,176-person crowd at Allen Arena. Since renewing the rival
ry in 2004, the Battle of the Boulevard has gone to overtime five times, which is more than any other two teams in the NCAA. Since joining the NCAA, the two schools have met 15 times with Belmont leading the series 8-7. However, the Bisons have won the last three meetings and control an overall 71-55 advantage over Belmont since the two schools started playing each other in 1953.
