The 3-0 win was a lot closer than Lipscomb wanted it to be on Tuesday night.

The Lady Bisons fought their way out of a close third set to sweep the Tennessee State Tigers and improve to 5-2 overall.

The Lady Bisons easily defeated the Tigers in the first two sets with 25-10 and 25-14.

“Our transition game did a really nice job,” Lady Bison Head Coach, Brandon Rosenthal, said.  “I thought for one and a half sets we did a really nice job of executing and eliminating chances for them to get extra points to the ball.”

The Lady Bison’s fought back after being down 8-1 early on in the set to win 25-21.

“Our energy kind of let off,“ said Rosenthal.  “I told them I wasn’t going to bail them out by calling time outs, that it really comes down to them. The girls did a great job of making points on their own.

Senior leaders like Stefine “Jake” Pease, Meghan Hinemeyer and Alex Kelly kept the team focused during the last set.

“It’s a Senior led team, I’m not too worried about it,” said Rosenthal.  “If I know the team like I do I don’t think there will be any doubt tomorrow in practice there will be a great sense of urgency to pick the team back up.”

The Lady Bisons will travel to South Carolina later this week for the Gamecock Invitational.
