Lumination hosts student media workshop

This Saturday, the department of communication and journalism will be hosting an introduction to its student-produced media network, Lumination Network, for those students interested in journalism, writing stories, photography, or shooting/editing video. We’ll provide doughnuts, water and an introduction to how you can become involved in campus student media. The workshop is this Saturday, September 18, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Mullican TV Studio Newsroom of Ezell Center (first floor).  The purpose of this workshop is to get students plugged into the network and for students to begin working with our staff. The day will begin with an general introduction about Lumination by its editor-in-chief, Kate Keith. Then students will breakout into 30-minute sessions on writing, photography, video shooting and video editing. Journalist-in-residence Tim Ghianni will be teaching students how to tell stories, and Tennessean photographer John Partipillo will lead the session on photography. Jake Morgan, Lipscomb alum currently working with the department of communication and journalism, will show students how to shoot video, and Lumination’s mulitmedia editor Ryan Malone will teach students how to edit video content using the ProTools suite. The Renewal and service opportunities- Campus Ministry this week

Campus Ministry invites you to be a part of The Renewal,  a time devoted to drawing near to God. Come to the Ezell Chapel on Wednesday night, September 1, and pray, reflect on scripture, sit in silence or share what is on your heart.  The Renewal lasts from 9 p.m. until 10 p.m., but you can stay for as long (or as little) as you’d like. This Friday, September 3, Campus Ministry is leading a group to the Nashville Rescue Mission to serve food from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. If you can volunteer, contact Jason Parker at parkerjb@lipscomb.edu.  Volunteers should meet in the Campus Ministry office at 10:15 a.m. (room 130 in the basement of the Bennett Campus Center) and wear closed-toed shoes and modest clothing. On Sunday night, September 12, we are going to be having a campus wide communion service for the Lipscomb Community.
