Top 10 Lipscomb sports moments in the last ten years

10. First Regular Season Title The Bisons basketball team entered uncharted territory in 2006. For the first time in school history the Bisons earned an invitation to the NIT postseason tournament after winning the Atlantic Sun regular-season championship. Following a 77-48 win over Kennesaw State in Allen Arena. The Bisons cut down the nets and claimed first place in the A-Sun with Belmont nipping at their heels in second. The Bisons finished the season with a 21-11 record which still stands as the best overall record for Lipscomb since joining the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2003. 9. Bison Baseball player gets drafted In 2009 Rex Brothers, a Lipscomb University student and member of the men’s baseball team was drafted to the Colorado Rockies. 8. Lipscomb Baseball vs. Georgia The Bisons baseball team defeated SEC champions Georgia in the 2008 regional tournament. Lipscomb was a regional 4th seed facing a national 8th seed. The upset advanced the Bisons into the winners bracket. The upset was ranked as the sixth surprising upsets of the decade. 7. Phillip Hutcheson Named Athletic Director It was announced October 10, 2008 that Phillip Hutcheson would be taking over the responsibilities of the Athletic Director for the Lipscomb Bisons. By the time Hutcheson had graduated, he had become college basketball’s all-time leading scorer…a record he would relinquish three years later to his former roommate, Bison star John Pierce. 6. Lady Bisons basketball team becomes first Lipscomb sports team to make post-season play in the NCAA era. College is 90% experience and 10% education.  Open your mind, not in a “hippy, la-la” type of way, but in a “respect other people’s viewpoints” type of way. 5) Who at Lipscomb influenced you the most and how?
